(AhlulBayt News Agency) - In a meeting took place in 2005 between then Israeli war minister Shaul Mofaz and former PA interior minister Nasr Yousuf, both sides discussed the assassination of Hasan Madhoun, a senior leader of Al-Aqsa Brigades, the dissolved armed wing of Fatah in the Gaza Strip.
"Hasan Madhoun, we know his address and Rasheed Abu Shabak (former deputy director of the PA preventive security in Gaza) knows that. Why don't you kill him?" Mofaz said according to the leaked meeting minutes.
"We gave instructions to Rasheed and will see," Yousuf replied to Mofaz. A few weeks later on the first of November 2005, Israeli warplanes bombed and killed Madhoun and senior Qassam leader Fawzi Abu Al-Qar'a who were aboard a car in Gaza.
Other documents, dated May 2006, PA chief negotiator Saeb Erekat asked US officer Keith Dayton, who was in charge of supervising the performance and training of the PA security forces, to convince Israel to provide the PA forces with weapons to confront Hamas.
"The presidential guard is in dire need of guns and ammunition. Particularly with the situation in
Gaza, this issue is critical. We need to re-establish security liaison with Israel. This is the best way to maintain security, Erekat told Mofaz.
Americans and Israelis, as stated by other Al-Jazeera leaked papers, highly hailed the intelligence cooperation which the PA provided.
